Built by someone who almost walked past his own money.
myMoneyCA exists because too many Californians are walking past money that belongs to them. We built a better way to find it.
It started with a letter in the mail. Someone had found unclaimed property in my name and was offering to help me claim it — for a hefty fee.
Before agreeing to anything, I looked into it myself. I found my property through the state's website, but the experience left me frustrated. I wondered: if it was this hard for me to find my own money, how many people were giving up before they even got close?
I started asking around. I searched my wife's name — she had money waiting. Then my parents. Then my in-laws.
The ones who did try searching on their own often came up empty — not because they didn't have money waiting, but because a basic search doesn't find property filed under details that don't match exactly.
That's when I decided to build something better. Not just a search tool — a service that works the way people actually think. One that takes the information you provide — names, addresses you've lived at — and finds matches a basic search misses. Every result comes with a match score so you know which ones to prioritize.
myMoneyCA exists because no one should lose money that's rightfully theirs just because a search didn't look hard enough.
Right now, the State of California is holding over $14.5 billion in unclaimed property — forgotten bank accounts, old insurance payouts, uncashed checks, stock dividends. Most of it belongs to people who have no idea it's there.
Some claims are worth a few dollars. Some are worth thousands — and none of it costs you anything to search. None of it earns interest while it sits at the SCO — it is just waiting to be claimed. We built myMoneyCA because nobody should lose money that belongs to them simply because they didn't know where to look.
You can always search for free at claimit.ca.gov — and we encourage it. myMoneyCA is for people who want to make sure nothing slips through the cracks. We publish detailed statistics for over 2,700 California cities — showing total unclaimed value, top holders, and property types — so you can see the full picture before you search.
We only get paid when you do. Our 10% recovery fee is charged only on successful claims of $25 or more — and only after you receive your money. If we don't recover anything, you owe us nothing.
Claims under $25 are directed to claimit.ca.gov — the free state portal — because we believe you should always walk away ahead, no matter the claim size.
Transparency matters in this industry. Here is exactly who we are and how to verify it.
Unfortunately, scammers do target people searching for unclaimed property. Here is how to tell a legitimate service from a fraudulent one.
Still unsure? Call the California State Controller’s Office directly at (800) 992-4647 and ask about legitimate unclaimed property recovery services. They can confirm that registered services like ours are legal and commonly used.
